Mistress
(Gary Paul Holmes)
2. Mistress
Story:
In the pages of Charles Dickens' Great Expectations, Miss Havisham had a broken heart, and she raised her adopted daughter, Stella, to break the hearts of others. Her very much enamored admirer, Pip, became the brunt of this upbringing, but he kept on loving her just the same.
Lyrics:
His mistress eyes are nothing like the sun
yet she is his single, only one
there's nothing special about the face wears,
but to him she's not as cruel as fair
for common things, she never cares
always has her nose up in the air
when he had no money, she slapped him the face
then she told him that his friends were poor taste
because he loved her, she only thought him weak
most love she ever gave was a kiss on the cheek
This man's mistress
was raised to hate
bait with affection
make lovers wait
this man's mistress was raised to hate
bait with affection
make lovers wait
Don't treat well what's good till it's too late
Don't treat well what's good till it's too late
Just to make her lover sad and blue
she found another to tell him he was through
but this other man, he didn't lover her and
now she does'nt know what to do
Pain and mishap is all you sow
you caused much sorrow now you eat crow
humiliation-lost expectations good situations
soon take vacations
You treated bad what's good mayby it's too late
you treated bad what's good mayby it's too late
Though the freshness of her beautys gone
this mistress still is his only one
now they walk together through the dark
no shadow there shows they will part
This man's mistress though raised to hate
now gives affection
It's not too late!
She'll treat well what's good before a lonely fate
She'll treat well what's good before a lonely fate
This man's mistress though raised to hate
now gives affection
it's not too late!
Lonely girl
She'll treat well what's good---before uh before a lonely fate
It's not too late now
It's not too late now
It's not too late now
It's not too late
