New lyrics - July 22, 2006

Genesta Garden is a song about professional musicians working in their home studio. It's a place where music grows, and it's also located on "Genesta" street in the Valley near Saticoy and Balboa. I had the pleasure of recording an album there.

Genesta Garden
by Gary Holmes

Behind the house there are lemon trees

Besides the garage there's a pool

In the backyard they keep laundry clean

A green street quiet and cool

Genesta Garden where music grows
and nobody ever knows
when a song will arrive again
or the time that day comes and goes

Not too far from Hollywood

And miles away just the same

Working inside for an open door

until the world knows their name

Quest for fame and fortune

All the things that they do

Just to make another song

A song to sing just for you

Genesta Garden where music grows
and nobody ever knows
when a song will arrive again
or the time that day comes and goes

Music inside is a quiet mind
Words so new yet to find
Stories set to pitch and time
and somehow it all rhymes

Genesta Garden where music grows
and nobody ever knows
when a song will arrive again
or the time that day comes and goes
